Meseret Nuguse, a 30-year-old mother of four and a member of the Hawi-gudina VSLA group in Gasera Woreda,. She received a loan of 2500 ETB from the group members. She purchased 20 improved chickens, and after the hen laid a total of 440 eggs, of which 360 she sold for 2290 ETB and consumed 80 for her family, she also sold ten hens for 5500 ETB during the Eastern Festival. Her family’s lives have been enhanced by increased nutrition and further asset building thanks to the selling of eggs and hens that generated a net profit of ETB 7,990. She promptly paid back the loan.
